Jamal Abdul Rahim is the one of Bahrain’s most established and highly regarded contemporary artists, exhibiting his work in Europe and the Middle East. The award-winning artist builds his art from the movement of society deeply rooted in rich Arab civilization, its mythology, religion and language. He feels that artists can draw their inspiration from their surroundings and from the people around them.
Although he is best known as aprintmaker and painter, he has become an avid sculptor who states that ” stone is already beautiful and by sculpting it, I am inspred, transforming that beauty into a form”. He feels that working in stone fills the soul with a special kind of pleasure that cannot be explained, and that art is a spiritual exercise which cannot be ignored.
