Gasworks hosts the launch of ArteEast’s Residencies Initiative and the Residencies edition of the online Arte’Zine guest-edited by Aaron Cezar, (Director, Delfina Foundation), with a program hosted by Gasworks.
This discussion features critical remarks by Barrak Alzaid (Artistic Director, ArteEast) and Aaron Cezar alongside leading arts professionals from the Middle East, North Africa, Iran and the United Kingdom. The discussion will be moderated by Alessio Antoniolli (Director, Gasworks and Triangle Network).
Residencies offer a crucial space to research and incubate projects, strengthen creative communities, and instigate artistic work.
In this forum we ask several key questions:
How can we, as an arts community, support artists and institutions in the Middle East to continue creating critical and rigorous work in and amidst the radical transformations occurring throughout the region?
In what ways can support mirror the dialogue occurring in the region and subsequently keep the outside world aware of those changes?
Culture, Capital & Residencies in the Middle East is made possible with the generous support of the Maryam & Edward Eisler Foundation and is produced by ArteEast in collaboration with The Delfina Foundation and Gasworks, and in association with the Art & Patronage Summit: The Middle East.
