About
AFAC envisions a thriving Arab arts and cultural scene that is confident in its expression, open to dialogue, accessible to all, and sustained locally by committed patrons. AFAC will play a leading role in achieving this vision and serve as a catalyst for homegrown philanthropic initiatives across the Arab world, by listening to and engaging with artists and cultural practitioners, analyzing and assessing their needs, facilitating cooperation and exchange, identifying and educating patrons on the social impact of arts and culture, advising stakeholders on necessary interventions, and supporting projects with direct independent funding. Two fundamental principles guiding AFAC’s operations are transparency in the grant giving process and independence through a diversity of funding sources.
The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) was established in 2007 as an independent initiative that funds individuals and organizations in the fields of cinema, performing arts, literature, music and visual arts while facilitating cultural exchange, research and cooperation across the Arab world and globally.
Hi,
I’m not an arab but leave in Ariha since Three years, before I was leaving in Quds (Wadi al Joz). I’m making now a collective art project with 5 women from the Aïn Sultan camp (where i leave), this project is going on a very intense motivation from the women and I. I have the proposal from a french museum to exhibit this work (The MAC/VAL from Vitry, south of Paris), they will produce all the prints and films at the end, for the exhibition. But actually, we have really few money for this project (only my money) because in France they only financed ngo or personal art work. My project found resistance from the institutions because it not concerning my name only (I really want to sign with all the women!!!) and the signature became actually in art scene a sickness!!! This work, at the end will be a huge montage with photography, 16mm films and soud, we want to create an environment where the public will be buried in our world, out of all the cliches about Palestine and also, women with Hijab… We are creating a Ariha far of Israel, peacefull as we like it can be !!! Is it possible even if I’m French to submit a proposal to you with the 5 women all arab ?
thank you for your answer.
